The cold days of winter are officially over and now it’s time to enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of nature! At the Plattduetsche Home Society, we have springtime activities that all of our residents will be able to participate in. With the springtime promise of warmer weather festivals, our residents look forward to free or reduced admission to weekend Heritage Celebrations next door at the Pattduetsche Park. Families often “meet up” with their resident loved ones at the Restaurant, Beer Hall, or outdoor tables, to enjoy pretzels and music. Learn more about some of our favorite things for the residents to do this spring.
1. The Ladies Society
Once again, the Ladies Society is back! With our first event quickly approaching, the Spring Flea Market will be held on Saturday, May 14! This event will be held in the Pavilion on the lawn of the facility between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. We hope to see you there!
2. The Strawberry Festival
Nothing is better than some delicious strawberries on a warm, sunny day. Our renowned Strawberry Festival is back on June 1 at 1:30 p.m. Come visit the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant and pick out some delicious strawberries. Each purchase will support the Plattduetsche Home Society.
3. Outdoor Game Season
Once again, the outdoor game season is upon us! At Plattduetsche Home Society, one of our favorite springtime activities that our residents enjoy are our shuffleboard and bocce ball courts. This is a great chance for everyone to get outside and be active for the ultimate senior living experience.
4. Nature Walks Around the Gardens
We take pride in keeping our grounds beautiful! With our plentiful gardens, we invite our residents to go for nature walks. During this walk, they’ll be able to appreciate both the flora and fauna and possibly even spot an egret, who has been known to help himself to some of our Koi fish in past years.
5. First Annual “Car Wash”
We are having our first annual “Car Wash.” Any resident with an assistive walking device will have the opportunity to “drive” through and have their assistive devices cleaned and sanitized. We’ll make sure anyone who participates will leave with a sparkling clean device.
